Motorcycle Rally at SMAEB 2009
On Sunday, April 12, I’ll be taking part as a driver of a two-wheeled vehicle and organizer (on behalf of Autoshow magazine) in the motorcycle rally setting off from Romexpo at 11:00 a.m. We’ll ride to Constitution Square, via Roman Square, and back.
The point of this rally isn’t to rev our engines or pop wheelies and scare the old ladies along the route, but to draw attention to motorcyclists in traffic and try to break down the barrier between bikers and drivers.
Unfortunately, motorcyclists have a terrible image. That’s because some of them rev their engines at night, hold races while everyone else is trying to sleep, weave at speed between moving cars, and swear their heads off at you if they scare you—or if they hit your car’s side mirror.
On Saturday, we’ll show that the bikers who give the rest of us a bad name are a minority and don’t represent us. The vast majority of bikers are sane, friendly, big-hearted people; they wave to each other on the street even though they’ve never met, rush to help any “brother” in need, have wives and children, and want nothing more than to be respected on the road.

On Sunday, April 12, at 11:00 a.m., the FAIR PLAY MOTORCYCLE RALLY will take place.
Together with the organizers, motorcyclists will be campaigning for safer roads where tolerance prevails between those on two wheels and those on four. The meeting point will be inside Romexpo, and participants are expected from 10:00 a.m. onward.
The motorcycle convoy will set off along the route at 11:00 a.m.
The route will pass through Free Press Square - Arch of Triumph Square - Charles de Gaulle Square - Victory Square - Roman Square—and return along the same route.
Participants in the rally must use the first lane and strictly follow the instructions of traffic police officers (both escorts and those stationed along the route) and the organizers.NOT ALLOWED
- Honking;
- riding side by side in the convoy along the route;
- leaving the convoy along the route;
- scooters joining the rally;
- dangerous stunts (wheelies, riding in circles within the convoy, etc.);
- excessive engine revving;
- exceeding the convoy’s speed;REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION
- wearing the protective equipment required by law during the rally;
- motorcycles taking part in the rally must be registered;
- motorcycle riders must hold a valid driver’s license.
All of this is meant to emphasize once again that the rally stands for respect and fairness on the road.
The rally is part of the nationwide FAIR PLAY IN TRAFFIC campaign, launched by AUTOSHOW and held under the banner of the EUROPEAN ROAD SAFETY CHARTER.
The campaign’s main goal is to reduce the number of victims of road accidents.
Everyone who wants to support the campaign’s message is invited to the FAIR PLAY MOTORCYCLE RALLY.

va doresc un concurs fair si frumos, cit mai multa lume, care sa va inteleaga mesajul! nu stiu ce imagine au motociclistii ,ca padure fara uscaturi nu exista dar din pacate am vazut cu ochii mei, cum a incercat cineva sa te imbranceasca de pe motocicleta , iar tu nu facusesi absolut nimic rau. A fost o actiune urita , pe care nu o pot uita, o actiune care putea avea ca fundal doar o mare invidie, ca tu ai motocicleta si idiotul care te-a imbrincit nu avea! repet si intre motociclisti nu sint toti cum trebuie, pe mine ma deranjeaza aici doar cum se joaca cu viata lor si gonesc cu viteze ametitoare pe autostrada, viteze la care nu mai au absolut niciun control asupra motocicletei.
dar eu am voie sa va claxonez? :) ce pacat ca in wknd nu sunt in Bucuresti; as fi frut sa vad si eu parada. Vei face poze?

Felicitari pentru initiativa!Un asemenea eveniment ar trebui sa fie si in atentia televiziunilor,spre a populariza mesajul marsului.Le-ati trimis invitatii?
Foarte frumos mesaj si sper ca-si va atinge scopul, macar in parte. Felicitari si vreme buna!
stii care-i diferentza dintre un conducator auto si unul motociclist? motociclistul nu poate sa-si ia gps cu tv:-)) bon route!
dap.. am fost prezent, si nu m-a dezamagit.
In ce sens ? A fost unul dintre cele mai bine organizate masrsuri la care am participat, si chiar am participat la vreo 5 marsuri in ultimii 4 ani.
Nu stiu in ce masura ne atingem scupul cu aceste marsuri, opiniile sunt impartite, iar eu personal nu vad vreo diferenta notabila in scaderea numarului de accidente in care suntem noi, motociclisiti implicati. Dar stiti cum e… speranta moare ultima.
